Thursday, March 5th, 2009 | News

I have now finished my work in London, and have returned to Melbourne.  I have been working as a Freelance Patternmaker for BODY over the past 4 months, and now that I am settled into Melbourne again I am on the lookout for more work – Full Time, Part Time or Freelance.

I have put together a collection of images to go along with my CV in the folio category.  Please feel free to browse through the posts to get more of an in depth view of my experience and work history.

Can you please recommend a good short course in Australia that teaches patternmaking well? I’m based in Sydney. Tried the tafe ultimo but found the instructor not that good.

Hi Ava, I studied Patternmaking in my TAFE course, and then developed it on the job. I don’t know of any particular course that stands out. If you just want to learn basics then maybe try the TAFE colleges that offer fashion in Sydney – or adult education centres. If you are looking to pursue it on a professional level it is probably better to go to TAFE or UNI because they will give you a better idea of how things work in manufacturing as opposed to home sewing.

There is also a patternmaking course offered at Central St Martins in London called Innovative Patternmaking. I would have done it myself if I had the time – it would really push it to the limits and open your mind to the endless possibilities!!
Hope that helps and doesn’t confuse you more…
